I hope y’all had a happy and safe Easter weekend. I’ve participated in quite a few events over the past month, and we have several great articles for you to read, so I’m going to try to keep this short and sweet. If you’re interested in knowing more about any of the following events give me a shout. Here we go! First off, I had a great time listening to the folks up in Glenn County at a Rangeland Health Field Day put on by Greg Baker and Glenn County RCD on Mar. 22nd–very interesting and applicable information! The following couple of days, I attended the Rustici Rangeland Science Symposium at UC Davis where there was a ton of speakers with intriguing data and projects. Later that week, I was invited to discussion about data & metrics with the Almond Board and then the next day I gave a presentation with folks such as NRCS Regional Soil Health Specialist Kabir Zanghir and PMC Agronomist Valerie Bullard. And then last Tuesday, we held a workshop in Modesto focusing on specialty crops, where I had the pleasure of presenting with folks such as Carolyn Cook from CDFA and Tom Johnson from Kamprath Seed Co. And thanks again to all those who attended and presented—your input is invaluable! Also, please remember that if you’re interested on starting or being on the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) in your area, please do let us know. It’s been a big hit in Glenn County’s, and the trend seems to be catching on around the state. Here in our neck of the woods, we have a few folks that have already joined the group in the San Joaquin Valley Hub, with almonds, chickens, dairy, pasture, and beef represented, but we’d love some more folks to join us. Stay safe, and thank you so much for reading! Best Always, Jeff *Farming looks mighty easy when your plow is a pencil and you’re a thousand miles from the [corn] field.* --Dwight D.
