At the recently completed 16th session of the Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture, FAO was requested to consider including domesticated honey bees and potentially other pollinators into DAD-IS, the Domestic Animal Diversity Information System (REPORT, paragraph 46).
As a first step in this process, the Animal Production and Genetic Resources Unit of FAO has prepared an online survey on national populations of honeybees and other pollinators and their management.
We have already distributed the survey through various networks and have received more than 130 responses from nearly 60 countries. Nevertheless, we would like to increase the coverage as much as possible.
I therefore kindly ask you to notify national authorities working with honeybees and other pollinators about the survey, providing them links to the survey, which you will find below:

If you have any questions regarding the survey or on planned activities on pollinators as animal genetic resources in general, please contact one of the following persons:
Ms Roswitha Baumung [log in to unmask] (DAD-IS administrator)
Mr Paul Boettcher [log in to unmask] (Secretary of the Commission’s Working Group on Animal Genetic Resources)
Ms Kennedy Halvorson [log in to unmask] (Survey author and analyst)
Thank you for your kind assistance.
Best regards,
Paul Boettcher
