Subject: Groundswell 2017 - Speaker Line Up
To: [log in to unmask]

Greetings,

We are fortunate to have so many great speakers and organisations flying in from all corners of the country - and the world - to speak at Groundswell 2017. It’s testament to the enthusiasm of our attendees that we are able to garner such high profile support from world-class Conservation Agriculture figures, despite our relative size compared to other agricultural shows.
We are pleased to present the full line up of speakers for each day at Groundswell 2017:

For one day ticket holders, you can now see that Dr. Christine Jones, Graeme Sait, Dr. Sarah Beynon and David Montgomery will be speaking on both days, albeit on slightly different topics, given the different focus of each day.

We do hope that you’ll consider coming for both days - even if you don’t yet have livestock in your rotation. For our two-day ticket holders we can assure you that Wednesday night’s entertainment will provide something a bit different. Renowned storyteller Hugh Lupton will present “On Common Ground - An evening of stories, songs and music exploring the life and times of poet John Clare”.  Hugh is one of the finest storytellers in Britain - and a key figure in the storytelling revival, transforming the art from a moribund anachronism to a vigorous and contemporary form of entertainment.  His telling of the life of the 19th century ‘Northamptonshire peasant poet’ John Clare is something not to be missed.

Aside from all the talking, there’ll be a grass-fed barbecue, ales from local brewers and plenty of time to mingle with fellow delegates and speakers. You are welcome to camp or park a campervan on site. For those who prefer a comfy bed, there are plentiful accommodation options nearby. From a luxury yurt to a charming manor house, there is something to suit every taste. See our webpage here for a comprehensive list of options and even some special discounts for Groundswell Attendees.

We are strongly behind the #glyphosateisvital campaign and remain optimistic that science will prevail over fear-mongering, and the glyphosate ban will not commence. As the discussion rumbles on - and whether a ban appears or not - we feel it is salient to consider alternative weed-control options, should we be faced with a ban in the future. With this in mind, we are hoping to play host to some innovative chemical-free weed control techniques at Groundswell...anyone’s suggestions would be most welcome. Please get in touch

One of the key concepts of Groundswell is maximising learning opportunities from all aspects of the agricultural industry. There will be BASIS and NRoSo CPD points available at both days of the conference for those collecting.  In addition, we have set up a 10% student & Young Farmer discount. Please get in touch with your student or YFC membership to claim your discount code.

As ever, do keep an eye on our blog for weekly updates from our drill demonstrators, outlining the machinery they’ll be testing out on the No-Till Day (29th) and our Twitter for speaker updates and event news. For those of you still reading things in print, you can catch the Groundswell advert in Farmer’s Weekly this week, too!

If you haven’t bought your ticket yet, you can do so here.

Best wishes
John, Paul, Alex Cherry
