Press Conference, Launch of The State of Food and Agriculture 9.10.17 | 13:00h (Rome time) The new State of Food and Agriculture will be presented at a press conference at 13:00 with FAO Director-General Jose Graziano da Silva and Assistant Director-General for Economic and Social Development Kostas Stamoulis. At the heart of the report is a strategy for how cities and rural areas in the developing world can be better connected and adapt, and how agriculture can address increased demand for food and contribute to more sustainable food systems. The new report looks at this in the context of population growth, increasing urbanization, modern technologies, and climate change. In particular, it looks at prospects in the developing world for employing the massive numbers of young people poised to enter the job market and feeding rapidly growing populations. The Committee is a leading international platform for policy discussions related to global food and nutritional security. Running from 9-13 October, CFS participants will be discussion a number of issues, including: lessons learned implementing the 2030 Agenda; the launch of the High Level Panel of Experts (HLPE) report on nutrition and food systems; good practice and lesson sharing for improved nutrition; role of sustainable forestry for food security and nutrition.
