Dear all,
Below please find the launching email of the FAO/WHO GIFT platform. All food consumption data are coded in FoodEx2. Those who have attended the FoodEx2 workshop in Buenos Aires in October 2017, know also how to code foo composition data in FoodEx2. The coding of food composition and food consumption data in the same food description and classification system will enhance data linkage and harmonization, and will reduce errors and time needed for food matching.

If you know of someone having food consumption data, please feel free to forward this message so that in the future more food consumption data are freely and publicly available for more countries to inform decision makers and develop appropriate policies and programmes in nutrition and other disciplines.

Best wishes from Santiago
Ruth

FAO/WHO GIFT provides up-to-date inventory of individual quantitative food consumption surveys conducted and ongoing in low- and middle-income countries, containing survey information on identified studies, to answer the following questions:

Where are individual quantitative data on food consumption available? What do people eat? What are the sources
of nutrients in people's diet? What is the level of consumption among high consumers of different foods?

[cid:image006.jpg@01D36210.E1D75220]

Do you have individual quantitative food consumption data from 24-hour dietary recall or record collected
on a representative population of at least 100 individuals? If you do, please check if your dataset
has been already identified and placed on our interactive inventory map<http://www.fao.org/gift-individual-food-consumption/data-sources/en/>.

If your survey is already in FAO/WHO GIFT, please check if the metadata information
we have collected is correct and let us know about any mistakes.

FAO/WHO GIFT can host your data and make it accessible to all, while maintaining
data ownership and visibility of the originating institution.
We are ready to work with data owners on harmonisation of their dataset(s)
in order to share them through our platform.

and check the attached communication leaflet<http://www.fao.org/3/a-i7946e.pdf> to find out how your data can be used.

Help us to spread the word and forward this message to anyone
who may be working with individual quantitative food consumption data.
