New E-learning courses on Sustainable Development Goal Indicators

SDGDear Members,

With the aim of assisting Member Countries in the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, FAO has just released an innovative series of e-learning courses on the SDG indicators falling under its responsibility.

The Organization is the custodian agency for 21 SDG indicators, and partner agency in four other indicators, all related to FAO’s vision for food security, nutrition, sustainable agriculture and the sustainable management of natural resources.

The e-learning products will strengthen national capacities in collecting, analyzing, monitoring and reporting of these indicators.

The first eight courses are already available online, free of charge, as a global public good, through the FAO e-learning centre:

·         Introduction to Sustainable Development Goal indicators under FAO custodianship

·         SDG Indicator 2.1.2 - Using the Food Insecurity Experience Scale (FIES)

·         SDG Indicator 2.a.1 - Agriculture orientation index

·         SDG Indicator 2.c.1 - Food price anomalies

·         SDG Indicator 5.a.1 - Equal tenure rights for women on agricultural land

·         SDG Indicator 5.a.2 - Ensuring women’s legal rights to land ownership and/or control

·         SDG Indicator 6.4.2 - Level of water stress

·         SDG Indicator 14.b.1 - Securing sustainable small-scale fisheries

Additional courses will be published during the coming months. At this stage, the products are in English, and will also be available in other UN languages in the near future.

We encourage you to take these courses and to circulate this information across the relevant networks.
