Dear Partners and Observers,

Further to the email below, we are pleased to communicate the following actions.

We are very pleased to attach the confirmed list of external experts for the AG7 on biogas. The stocktaking paper for the AG7 will also go ahead as proposed in the attached outline and we look forward to presenting further preliminary findings at the next GBEP meetings towards the end of the year (26-30 November 2018, exact dates to be communicated).

We would like to gently remind you that the deadline for providing inputs to the Scope of Work of the proposed AG8 on Advanced Biofuels is Friday 15 June. The document has been considerably revised since the GBEP meetings and your feedback is extremely important to be able to formally establish the AG.

Your contribution to the working paper on Proxies and Best Practices for the Implementation Guide is also kindly requested by Friday 15 June.

We wish you a very good week.

Kind regards,

GBEP Secretariat

Subject: GBEP WGCB and Task Force on Sustainability - inputs requested

Dear Partners and Observers,

We hope this message finds you well.

We would like to request your feedback on the three workstreams detailed below. The deadlines for these inputs can be found in the brackets by each title.

WGCB
AG7 - Biogas (please provide feedback by 28 May 2018)

* Stocktaking paper - leaders of the group have developed an outline of a draft stocktaking document. It is proposed that the stocktaking paper could take advantage of the research already carried out by the secretariat during the Bioenergy Week 2017 on analysis of biogas value chains in Africa through SWOT analysis. This could be extended to include the Americas and Asia during the next two Bioenergy Weeks to occur in 2018 and 2019. The stocktaking paper would therefore provide a basis to guide the work of the group by demonstrating the most relevant factors that determine the success of biogas projects at a variety of scales. We would appreciate your feedback on this proposal, as well as the attached outline.

* Please find attached a list of external experts and their biographies for the AG7 on Biogas. We will consider these experts as members of the Activity Group unless major concerns are raised.

AG8 - Advanced Biofuels (please provide inputs by 15 June 2018)

* A new version of the background document and scope of work of the AG8 on advanced biofuels has been kindly prepared by the USA based on the comments received during the meeting of the WGCB held in November 2017, as well as further consultations. We kindly request your feedback on this document, attached to this email.

Task Force on Sustainability
Proxies and Best Practices (please provide inputs by 15 June 2018)

* At the GBEP meetings, it was agreed that it would be useful to include relevant studies for the use of proxies for the implementation of the GBEP indicators into the Implementation Guide, focusing on best practices. As such, IRENA has kindly prepared a background note to introduce the issue. We would now like to request from Partners and Observers relevant studies to accompany this text, which can then be included in the Guide. If you have studies/research that you think are relevant for this issue then please provide the reference, along with a brief description of the paper (1-2 sentences) and its relevance (1-2 sentences). Examples of the format are available in the document attached.

Many thanks in advance for your ongoing contribution to the work of the Partnership.

Kind regards,
GBEP Secretariat
