Greetings from the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), Hyderabad. NIN is the premier nutrition research institute in the country working under the aegis of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. It is my pleasure to inform you that NIN has reached the threshold of its 100 years milestone (1918 - 2018). The long journey from a single room laboratory in Conoor, Tamil Nadu to its picturesque abode in Hyderabad, Telangana State is dotted with several interesting turns and events. Throughout its long history, NIN has been driving policy actions for improving nutrition outcomes in the country.
We are commemorating the NIN centenary year (2017 -18) under the theme “Empowering the nation through nutrition”. The centenary celebrations started with the first International Conference “Nutrition before, beyond and during first 1000 days of life-Evidence and Action” held during November 28 - 30, 2017 followed by many other activities. At the close of the Centenary year we are hosting the second International conference “Aligning food systems for healthy diets and improved nutrition” November 11 – 13, 2018. The Centenary conference aims to explore policies and programme options for shaping the food systems for healthy diets and improved nutrition, based on country experiences and challenges.
I take the pleasure of inviting you to join the second NIN International conference and present your work to the International audience. A special feature is the "Young People Unique Idea" session open to young researchers below the age of 35.
