Dear Partners and Observers, We are pleased to circulate the Summary of the 7th GBEP Bioenergy Week that successfully took place in Manila, the Philippines, 25-27 June 2019. The event was kindly hosted by the Government of the Philippines, in particular by the Department of Energy (DOE), the Department of Agriculture (DOA) and the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA), and in collaboration with the Ethanol Producers Association of the Philippines (EPAP), US Grains Council and Novozymes. Let us take this opportunity to kindly remind you to send us your filled in templates on the AG4 (Wood energy) and on the AG8 (Advanced liquid biofuels) by 15 September 2019 as per below communication. We would like to thank you for your continued commitment to the work of GBEP under the WGCB. (Updates on the TFS and the Implementation Guide will follow in a separate email, for your convenience.) Please see below details of how you can contribute towards the various work streams. Activity Group 4 - Wood energy - The AG4 has agreed to focus on a new theme: 'woody biomass for forest landscape restoration (FLR) and sustainable livelihoods' - Under this new theme, the AG4 is collating a report on positive examples of the linkage between woody biomass and FLR. We are kindly asking Partners and Observers to consider projects in their own countries/organisations that demonstrate a positive linkage between the production or consumption of wood energy and FLR. If you have any such examples, we would be very pleased if you would like to contribute to the AG4 report by filling in the attached template. We will be happy to receive these by 15 September 2019. Please make sure to consider best examples not only related to sustainable wood energy but of the linkages between this and FLR. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact the GBEP Secretariat. - The GBEP Secretariat/FAO, GIZ and IEA Bioenergy have also begun a new collaboration on strengthening the dialogue at the interface between sustainable wood energy and FLR. This collaboration began with a side event at the Global Landscape Forum in Bonn (1-2 December 2018) and will continue into 2020, with the organisation of events to facilitate national and international dialogues on FLR and wood energy. These events will also represent a contribution to the AG4. Activity Group 7 - Biogas - Two e-learning webinars were held under AG7 in April on the BiogasDoneRight(r) model. We are pleased to be able to share with you the link for the recordings<http://www.globalbioenergy.org/programmeofwork/working-group-on-capacity-building-for-sustainable-bioenergy/activity-group-7/biogas-e-learning-videos/en/> of these webinars, held in both English and Spanish. We hope that you will find the recordings informative and disseminate them within your networks. We look forward to continuing this series of webinars in the future. Activity Group 8 - Advanced liquid biofuels - The AG8, after its official establishment at the end of 2018, has now established a programme of work for 2019/2020 and is beginning its activities. - One of the core activities will be a report that brings together best practices and policies from across the world on advanced biofuels. As part of this work, we kindly ask Partners and Observers to consider best practices within their country/organization, such as successful programmes, projects or business models, and also national/regional policies that impact on advanced biofuels. You can contribute to the report by filling in the attached template. We will be happy to receive these by 15 September 2019. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact the GBEP Secretariat. We would like to thank you for your continued commitment to the work of GBEP under the WGCB.
