Dear Siva,

What is your purpose? – good average values for hen’s eggs distinguishing between breeds, range, barn, and cage eggs, if significant difference or …?

In my opinion, differences may very much be a question of breed and especially of which feed the egg-laying hens get – this may also vary greatly between the production methods.

In DK, we have for example eggs “high in omega-3” in the supermarkets. The hens are fed with flax seeds.

Maybe a search in the poultry literature e.g. Poultry Science could give you some hints, like

there are numerous articles on the subject. This is just a few examples.

All the best,

Subject: Query on chicken eggs please

Dear All

Please any difference between free range, barn and cage eggs.

“Eggs - need more information, including expected variation in nutrients by type and sales volume. Discussion re variation in nutrient content by egg size and season”.

Please your expert advice is appreciated, do we have to analyse range, barn and cage eggs separately. Also variation in nutrient content by egg size and season.

Regards and Thanks.

Siva
