Dear Partners and Observers,

We very much look forward to welcoming you in Rome for the GBEP meetings on 28-30 October 2019.

In preparation for the meetings, there are a number of background documents for your consideration. Please find a list of these documents below; some documents are attached to this email (the less heavy files) and all of them are included in the Dropbox<https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ixspppa64qz8hq8/AAAHsmBmXOEjdFNR_DVkQpcVa?dl=0>, including the Agenda of the meetings for your convenience.

28 October 2019
Working Group on Capacity Building

  * AG4: During the session, we will discuss the collection of examples of positive relationships between sustainable wood energy and forest landscape restoration (FLR). A template was circulated to all P&Os in June and the responses already received have been compiled in the document attached. Dennis Garraty (ICRAF) will present one such example of a best practice on the links between wood energy and FLR as food for discussion in the meeting (the related template is included in the AG4 collection of best practices as "Global Evergreening Alliance").
  * AG7: Please find attached the updated Stocktaking Report for the AG7. During the session, a progress report will be given.
  * AG8: During the session, we will discuss the collection of best practices and national/regional policies for advanced liquid biofuels. A template was circulated to all P&Os in June and the responses already received have been compiled in the document attached. Some examples will be presented during the session to stimulate the discussion.
29 October 2019

  * Implementation Guide: Please find attached the first draft of the Implementation Guide, which was circulated and agreed in May 2019. A progress report on the Guide will be given during the session and opportunities for dissemination will be discussed.
