Here what Henk Jan says:
M - when you live in Italy and want to understand what happened in this country
at the beginning of the 20th century, this book is a must-read about the rise of a dictator, Mussolini.
Spillover, already written in 2012, but specifically during COVID-19 times a must read.
Blindness - to read about what happens when a pandemic strikes a society.
and Cornelia:
Mastering the art of Soviet cooking, telling the history of USSR linked to recipes,
and food (and the lack thereof).
A Cultural History of the Modern Age – Novalis, is how the book starts, so very topical.
Cornelia also suggests to have a looks at The Waste Land, T.S Eliot poem in a
digital version. The fascinating new format, that should be explored for more literature. What a change from those awful lessons dissecting (and thus simultaneously destroying) poetry at school.
while Gisela:
Spillover explains to non-technical people how and why recent pandemics such as HIV, Ebola, SARS, etc. originated in animals.
London – for history-lovers, this book tells the history of London from Celtic times to the XX century through several fictional characters and tales.
