We hope this email finds you well. We would like to update you on the recent and upcoming events of GBEP.

RECENT EVENTS
-        GBEP side event at e-EUBCE 'Bioenergy - The overlooked contributor to the 1.5°c climate objective' (14:00 CEST, 9 July 2020 - event held by remote)

This side event was the opportunity to shed light on the role of bioenergy in the climate goals (including considering the recent IPCC report on Climate Change and Land) and share the experience of GBEP and other relevant international institutions regarding the joint effort towards sustainable development of bioenergy.

UPCOMING EVENTS
-        8th GBEP Bioenergy Week to be held at UNECA HQ, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - Organized in collaboration with UNECA, AFREC/AU and FAO

In light of the current evolution of COVID-19 all over the world the 8th Bioenergy Week is POSTPONED TO MARCH 2021 (16-19 March 2021, tbc). Please keep a save the date in your calendar (16-19 March 2021), further communications will follow in due time.

This Bioenergy Week will enhance learning from positive experiences on sustainable production and use of bioenergy integrated within food production value chains, to support the design and implementation of bioenergy policies in Africa. More information in the attached draft agenda.

-        GBEP annual meetings (TFS, WGCB and SC meetings) to be held during the week 26-30 October 2020 in FAO Headquarters, Rome, Italy. Possibility to hold the event by remote will be considered in light of COVID-19 evolutions. Please keep a save the date in your calendar, further communications will follow in due time.

We hope this email finds you well. We would like to update you on the recent activities and upcoming events of GBEP.

RECENT ACTIVITIES
Under the WGCB, commitment continues in the various activity groups. Although some changes have had to be made to the annual schedule, one of our core objectives at this time is to provide adequate possibilities for learning and exchange through virtual meetings and webinars. GBEP has recently hosted three webinars. Furthermore, it will provide the opportunity to continue a dialogue with the private sector and other stakeholders on ways to improve mutual cooperation towards a more sustainable production and use of bioenergy.
