 UNITED AGAINST RABIES:

One Health in Action—Partnering for Success

September 22, 2020

08.00-10.00 ET / 12.00-14.00 UTC /14.00-16.00 CET

The current global crisis has highlighted the interdependence of human, animal and environmental health, and the need for a One Health approach to overcome existing challenges and emerging threats associated with zoonotic disease.

Rabies is one of the oldest known zoonoses. It is entirely preventable, and yet it remains a major public health and animal health problem. Rabies control and elimination is achievable through a united, One Health approach that strengthens human and animal health systems and drives progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals.

The framework for this approach already exists for rabies (‘The Global Strategic Plan to end human deaths from dog-mediated rabies by 2030’) and a United Against Rabies Forum to deliver its vision will be announced at this event, but for rabies elimination to become a reality by 2030, we need to combine our efforts, political will, commitment, and resources.

In a demonstration of the Tripartite’s commitment to rabies elimination, we are honoured to announce that the Directors General of FAO, OIE and WHO (the Tripartite) will provide the opening remarks.

Learn how you can be involved and contribute—visit www.uarforum.org/register to join this virtual event hosted by FAO, OIE, and WHO.

We look forward to having you join us!
