Dear Mountain Partnership members, The IPCC Working Group (WG) II contribution to the Sixth
Assessment Report (AR6) is now entering its next phase; between 4 December 2020 and 29 January 2021, governments and expert reviewers will be invited to provide comments
on the Second Order Draft.
The IPCC WGII contribution to AR6 features a dedicated Cross-Chapter Paper on Mountains, to which many from the
Mountain Research Initiative (MRI) community are contributing as coordinating lead authors, lead authors, review editors, contributing authors – and you, as expert reviewers.
The expert review is an essential stage in the preparation of IPCC reports. It ensures that the reports cover the most up-to-date scientific, technical and socio-economic findings, and are representative of a broad range of independent expertise from developed
and developing countries. But what exactly does the expert review role and process involve, and how can you participate?
This webinar, a collaboration between the MRI and the IPCC WGII Technical Support Unit, aims to answer these questions. It will offer insights into how serving as a reviewer not only contributes
to the important work of the IPCC, but also enhances professional development and provides key networking opportunities. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to raise their own questions directly with experts and seek clarification on the IPCC
and its processes.
The "A Guide to the IPCC and the Expert Reviews Process" webinars will be conducted in
English
on 8 December and in
Spanish
on 9 December. To participate, please complete the registration form on the MRI website by 30 November 2020. Please note that spaces for these events are limited, and
you may be placed on a waiting list if registration capacity is exceeded. To learn more, please see the attached flyers and visit the MRI website. Should
you have any questions, please contact the MRI:
