GHE's First Solar-Powered Health Centre in Ladakh
GHE recently solar powered a medical centre in Ladakh, India, at 14,000 ft above sea level, in the remote village of Sato. The healthcare centre caters to more than 6 villages in the vicinity, and is also the first point of contact for primary healthcare in the area. The centre is now equipped with a 7kW Solar Plant and critical care equipment, such as ventilators. Lighting up the Remote Village of Kargil - Umba
Solar Electrification of Umba Village, Kargil
This documentary was shot in December 2020, during the solar electrification of a remote village in the Kargil District called Umba. Of the 7 hamlets within Umba village, 5 had not received any grid-based electricity till date. To provide equitable energy access to the local Ladakhis, a team of GHE engineers, solar electrified 104 households in the 5 hamlets in freezing conditions (-20°C). Documenting this incredible feat was the young filmmaker, Iftikhar, from Kargil.
