[cid:image001.jpg@01D714FA.6ECA7320] <https://fao.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJYvf-iuqDMpGdBuyuizdjGXewhwwJVgIwiu> The Codex Ad Hoc Task Force on Antimicrobial Resistance is currently working on the development of Guidelines for the integrated monitoring and surveillance of foodborne antimicrobial resistance. With the work of the Task Force scheduled to be completed in 2021, the last session of the Task Force held in 2019 established an electronic working group that is working intensively to facilitate discussion and completion of the Guidelines by the Task Force within the requested timeframe. To support this work, to help ensure that the Codex Guidelines optimally target the needs and provide the appropriate level of guidance to Codex members, and to complement FAO and WHO efforts in containing AMR, this webinar aims to update participants of related activities ongoing in FAO and WHO, as well as OIE. This webinar is being organized to: * inform Codex members on the resources and training materials available from FAO, WHO and OIE to assist countries in establishing and implementing their surveillance and monitoring systems on AMR; * showcase some of the ongoing capacity development work by FAO and WHO to support the practical development of monitoring and surveillance systems on AMR at country level; and * inform Codex members on further activities that FAO and WHO could carry out to assist countries in this area including the implementation of the Codex Guidelines when completed by the Task Force. Such information aims to provide insight into the ongoing initiatives in the field and give the FAO and WHO perspective on how the proposed Codex Guidelines can optimally support countries to develop their AMR monitoring and surveillance systems and supplements FAO and WHO in their own / joint activities as part of the Global Action Plan for AMR.
