URGENT – FOR YOUR ACTION

Dear Mountain Partnership members and friends,
We are contacting you as there is
an opportunity for highlighting mountains and mountain sustainable food systems at the
UN Food Systems Summit.
There is the possibility of proposing “game changing ideas and solutions” under the
five action tracks
of the Summit. The action tracks are the main areas of work around which the Summit is structured.
This can be done by filling the following online survey forms by
30 April 2021 – please note that a separate survey should be filled in for each action track (AT):

AT1 :

Solutions that can be supported:
Promote women-led enterprises to grow and sell nutritious but neglected crops in mountains. It can be promoted by the Mountain Partnership Products Initiative.
You can mention
mountain areas in particular geography or type of setting.

AT2 :

Solution that can be supported:
Labelling to add value to mountain products. It addresses the problem of
mountain products recognition and value addition. It’s an existing solution that needs to be scaled up.
It can be leveraged by MP members and by the Mountain Partnership Products Initiative.

Solutions that can be supported:
Scaling out agroecological production systems, Restoring grasslands, shrublands and savannah through extensive livestock-based food systems, Conservation and biocentric restoration
with indigenous people food systems.
It can be promoted by the collaboration among the MP members.

Solution that can be supported:
Strengthening organization in the agri-food sector and
Promoting inclusive and sustainable agroecological network chains for small farmers and indigenous communities linked to rural and urban consumers. It can
be promoted by the Mountain Partnership Products Initiative and the Coalition for Fragile Ecosystems.

AT5 :

Solution that can be supported:
Expanded and improved food security forecasting and monitoring, based
on the integrated food security phase classification as the accepted global food security analysis standard.
It can be leveraged by the MPS in collaboration with FAO.
You can
mention mountain areas in particular geography or type of setting.
You may also mention the Mountain Partnership and the Mountain Partnership Secretariat as reference supporting these ideas and solutions.
By participating in these surveys, you can promote attention to mountain peoples and their food systems. Please take the time to participate and invite other
relevant partners to join!
