Express your interest to participate in our Independent Dialogue on “Mountains
and sustainable food systems – Drivers of sustainable development” by 12 May 2021 Dear Mountain Partnership members and friends, In the framework of the UN Food Systems Summit 2021, the Mountain Partnership
Secretariat will host an independent dialogue on 18 May from 15:00-18:00 CEST
to discuss
“Mountains and sustainable
food systems – Drivers of sustainable development.”
·
the disproportionately high level of food insecure people living in mountain areas;
·
sustainable food systems‘ role as drivers of mountain development due to their potential for small– and medium-sized enterprises, and their links with tourism and niche
markets;
·
the globally relevant ecosystem services and goods provided by mountains, such as water provision and regulation, erosion control and disaster risk reduction as well as
biodiversity and agrobiodiversity conservation; and
·
the need to discuss inclusive policies and governance systems in mountains and develop approaches that can create enabling environments for change. Participation in the dialogue is by invitation only. If you have a strong interest in mountains and food systems and would like to
