Who makes the biggest impact, schools, girls, boys, youth movements? This unique virtual event will take the form of a “shark tank” where three youth activist speakers will pitch why they think their form of education and empowerment for young people is unleashing real climate action and change in society. A panel of behavioural science experts (aka the “sharks”) will then feedback on their pitches and share their expertise on creating an enabling environment for climate action. Participants will also have a chance to have their say on climate empowerment and which programmes they think should be funded and upscaled in the future.
The side event will highlight the importance of incorporating behavior science to ensure optimal empowerment of girls, boys and young women and men. It will discuss how we can best balance civic action and individual changes in behavior to really achieve sustainable transitions and what role can education play in generating and accelerating change. The side event will also look at how policy and legislation can create the needed enabling environment to ensure behavior change and the transition to sustainable societies.
This session is co-organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Youth and the United Nations Global Alliance (YUNGA), World Association of the Girl Scouts and Girl Guides (WAGGGS), Children and Youth constituency to United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (YOUNGO) and the World Food Forum (WFF).
