Dear Colleagues

It is our pleasure to invite you to the launch of 'The impact of the International Livestock Research Institute: Looking back to accelerate future food system transformation'. This book launch will be held on 3 November, 2021 at 3pm EAT.

Register here: ilri-org.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_mjeTv2A0SzKs80A5WJa9NQ

For more than four and a half decades, one global CGIAR centre has been mandated to conduct research to help people build ‘better lives through livestock’ by leveraging the benefits and mitigating the costs of livestock production in developing countries.

The book reviews 46 years of major achievements, lessons and impacts generated by the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and its predecessors, the International Livestock Centre for Africa (ILCA) and the International Laboratory for Research on Animal Diseases (ILRAD), and their many partners.

The purpose of the meeting is to acknowledge the role of livestock research in sustainable development, discuss achievements and lessons learned and look into future challenges and opportunities. The conversations will look at key issues related to science excellence, partnerships, capacity development and impact and also discuss how livestock fits into the new CGIAR Research strategy for 2030 and contributes to the CGIAR’s five impact areas.

The launching will bring together ILRI staff, ex-ILRI staff, partners, key development organizations, academics and researchers.

We hope you will join us for this occasion to reflect and look into the future of livestock research for sustainable development.

Please also share this with colleagues, partners and others whom you think would be interested.

You can learn more about our book at: ilri.org/ILRI-research-impact

Best wishes,
Jimmy Smith
