Dear INFOODS community,

My colleagues are conducting a Cost of the Diet analysis in Nigeria for
which they carried out a survey to collect prices of all foods available in
markets in the South of the country. We have come across some local /
traditional foods that we are unable to find in major food composition
tables including the West African FCT 2019. These foods are listed in the
table at the end of this email with their local names, English names and
likely scientific names (based on a google search).

For our analysis we (ideally) need the following information:

   - Energy (kcal), Protein, Fat
   - Minerals: zinc, calcium, iron, magnesium
   - Vitamins: Retinol Activity Equivalent, B1, B2, Niacin, Pantothenic
   Acid, Folate, B12 , C

Has anyone come across these foods in their research and could (1) point us
towards studies carried out on nutrient composition of these foods? (2)
identify a food with a similar composition?

*Name Local / English *

*(Likely) scientific name*

Oha leaf / African rosewood leaf

Pterocarpus mildraedii

Nturukpa

Pterocarpus santalinoides

Utazi Leaf / Bushbuck leaf

Gongronema latifolium

Soko / Lagos Spinach

Celosia argentia

Africa pear

Dacryodes edulis

Your help would be most appreciated!

Best wishes,

Frances Knight
