FAO Media s[cid:image001.png@01D7C40F.F86681E0] Tree Planting Ceremony at the the G20 Green Garden in Rome Friday 29 October, 15:00 (Rome time) at the G20 Green Garden, Appia Antica Park The Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization QU Dongyu (FAO), and the Italian Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini will participate in a tree planting ceremony at the G20 Green Garden in Rome on Friday 29 October at 15:00 (local time). Launched on the occasion of the Italian Presidency of the G20, the G20 Green Garden is an open-air museum situated in the heart of Rome’s Appia Antica Park, celebrating biodiversity, nature and the city’s ancient heritage. The event takes place ahead of the G20 Heads of State and Government Summit in Rome. The FAO Director-General and Minister of Culture will be joined by the President of the Lazio Region Nicola Zingaretti, the Mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, and the Ambassador of Indonesia Esti Andayani, whose country will assume the Presidency of the G20, after Italy. Holm oak trees will be planted in the park's “Sacred Wood”, an act that symbolizes the G20 countries’ commitment to build a sustainable future for 'People, Planet, Prosperity'. The trees are donated by the Lazio Region as part of the Ossigeno (Oxygen) project, an initiative aimed at fighting climate change, curbing CO2 emissions and protecting biodiversity. The event is open to the media - no accreditation required - and will be easily accessible through the park entrance on Vicolo di S. Urbano, Via Appia Pignatelli.
