How to make Africa’s reliance on charcoal and firewood more sustainable
Woodfuel use does not always lead to environmental degradation. By coming together as cooperatives, woodfuel producers have been able to train in more sustainable wood extraction –
such practice as cutting a branch rather than the entire tree to allow for regrowth, or using improved charcoal kilns.
