Technical Focus
Under the direct supervision of Assistant FAO Representative in Azerbaijan, the technical supervision of the Lead Technical Officer (LTO),
HQ technical officer, and in close coordination with the Operations Specialist; in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Project Coordinator (NPC), Junior Technical Specialist (JTO), the International Consultant on Feasibility Studies
(IC) will perform the following tasks:
Tasks and responsibilities
- Provide guidance and methodological advice to national consultant on feasibility studies on data needed, relevant
design, methodology and tools to undertake feasibility study to assess possibility of transformation to semi-intensive and intensive system of sheep farms considering climate smart agriculture approach.
- Conduct visits to predetermined number of representatives of sheep farms considering farm size and production
system to understand the local context as well as meet with different actors along the sheep value chain (farmers associations, trader, processing plants, Government, etc.);
- Based on national consultant’s inputs and consultations conducted, develop a draft feasibility report, outlining
problems, solutions, barriers to suggested solutions and measures to overcome barriers; costing of suggested activities and cost-benefit analysis;
- Facilitate necessary contributions to the Feasibility Study report by the national consultant, to ensure that
technical reports are evidence-based and have all necessary references;
- Ensure that the Study contains all necessary technical, institutional, organizational, socio-economic, financial
and environmental assessments, to ensure incorporation of these assessment during pilot activities.
- Assume main responsibility for finalizing the overall report, containing a comprehensive analysis/assessment.
- Contribute/participate during the stakeholder consultation workshops.
- Carry out any other tasks relevant to this assignment as requested by the LTO.
