As African swine fever (ASF)
continues to spread and push already food-insecure communities towards greater risk, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) have collaborated on a communication campaign to
raise awareness of the disease and highlight how to stop the spread.
Detrimental to the livelihoods of many, ASF is a highly contagious deadly disease affecting pigs and wild boar. ASF does not pose a threat to human health, however humans can inadvertently contribute to
the spread of the virus as it can survive for some time on objects such as tools, boots and vehicles, as well as in pork and uncooked pork products. Good biosecurity and increased awareness among veterinarians, farmers, the general public and policymakers
are key to limiting the spread and containing the disease.
FAO has teamed up with the OIE to develop and launch a joint ASF communication campaign with a global reach. The following communication products are now available for download and use in several languages
including Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish:
·
Infographics
·
Posters
·
Leaflets
·
Postcards
·
Social media cards
·
Factsheets
On the occasion of the launch of this joint communication campaign, we encourage you to share these resources within your networks and contribute to slowing and stopping
the spread of ASF.
