How a small rural cooperative made it to the big time - sustainably
[cid:image001.jpg@01D828D0.3F6175D0]In the northern province of Yen Bai, Viet Nam, an informal group of 18 farmers transformed itself into a registered cooperative, with 60 hectares of Forest Stewardship Council certified plantation, bringing social and economic benefits to its communities. They sell their FSC-certified acacia sawn log to an IKEA supplier.

Renewed IKEA and FFF partnership enhances local livelihoods

Following the success of an earlier partnership with the FFF, the IKEA business signed in 2021 a new agreement with the FFF. The project supports women, youths, and ethnic minorities in Viet Nam to stimulate diverse agroforestry systems in forest landscapes.

Sharing inspiration between rural women entrepreneurs in Asia

Even small-scale production can be linked to commercial marketing through collective efforts and strategic business support such as online marketing and product diversification. This was one of the a lessons learned from a recent knowledge exchange between Indian and Nepalese forest and farm producers.
