Call for inputs, UNSG report on sustainable mountain development Dear Focal Points of the Mountain Partnership, We are contacting you to solicit your input for the 2022 United Nations Secretary-General (UNSG) report on sustainable mountain development. Every three years, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) as the mandated lead UN agency on mountains together with
the Mountain Partnership Secretariat is tasked to prepare
the UNSG report on sustainable mountain development,
in collaboration with governments, relevant agencies of the UN system and NGOs. The 2022 report will be presented
at the seventy-seventh session of the United Nations General Assembly as requested by the latest UNGA resolution (A/RES/74/227). The document will describe the status and progress made in promoting sustainable mountain development at the national and international levels,
since the previous UNSG report in 2019 (A/74/209). The 2022 report will highlight specific thematic areas of focus and provide an overview of the results, impacts and changes achieved through action
at national, regional and global level as well as provide recommendations.
Instructions: When drafting your contribution, please make reference to the attached outline for the next report which has been prepared by FAO and approved
by UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs as well as to the previous UNSG report. Please note that the reporting period is from July 2019 to April 2022.
For each chapter, select the theme(s) where you can provide input. Where available, please include relevant data and references. Inputs should have a focus on actions and outcomes and less on events held. Due to a strict limit of the report’s overall length, your total
contribution should not exceed 150 words. The UNSG report will provide selected examples and highlights of action, therefore we cannot guarantee that all the submissions will be reproduced
in full or included in the final report. Our best efforts will be made to take all contributions into account. The contributions that will not be included in the report will be made available on the Mountain Partnership website.
We kindly request you to submit your input by
22 April 2022 at the latest to [log in to unmask].
Thank you in advance for your valuable collaboration. Best regards, The Mountain Partnership Secretariat |
