The measured properties include: pH (CaCl2 and H2O), organic carbon content, CaCO3, nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium, EC (Electrical conductivity), Oxalate extractable Fe and Al. In addition, this dataset includes further modules of LUCAS 2018: a) erosion b) assessment of organic soils and Bulk Density. Further data on the LUCAS 2018 will follow in the future. Data available at: https://esdac.jrc.ec.europa.eu/content/lucas-2018-topsoil-data Report on LUCAS 2018 Soil Module <https://esdac.jrc.ec.europa.eu/public_path/shared_folder/dataset/75-LUCAS-SOIL-2018/JRC_Report_2018%20LUCAS_Soil_Final-v2.pdf> This report presents the soil dataset collected as part of the 2018 Land Use/Cover Area frame statistical Survey’ (generally referred to as LUCAS Soil Module). It presents an overview of the various laboratory analyses and describes the spatial variability of soil properties by land cover (LC) class and a comparative analysis of the soil properties for NUTS 2 regions. This is the 3rd iteration of LUCAS Soil, covering all EU Member States in a six month window of 2018. The LUCAS Soil module is the only mechanism that currently provides a harmonised and regular collection of soil data for the entire territory of the EU. https://esdac.jrc.ec.europa.eu/public_path/shared_folder/dataset/75-LUCAS-SOIL-2018/JRC_Report_2018%20LUCAS_Soil_Final-v2.pdf EU Soil Observatory 2021 <https://esdac.jrc.ec.europa.eu/public_path/shared_folder/doc_pub/EUR31152.pdf> The purpose of this report is to provide a synthesis of the achievements of the EU Soil Observatory (EUSO) during its first year of existence. The EUSO aims to become the principal provider of reference data and knowledge at EU-level for all matters relating to soil. The EUSO will be a dynamic and inclusive platform that supports EU soil-related policymaking by providing its stakeholder base with the knowledge and data flows needed to safeguard and restore soils. The first EUSO Stakeholder Forum was attended by over 1,000 participants over a three-day period in October 2021. It succeeded in bringing together an EUSO community and in establishing a two-way dialogue with its user base. A summary of the event is presented in this report. https://esdac.jrc.ec.europa.eu/public_path/shared_folder/doc_pub/EUR31152.pdf *Save the date: 24-26 October 2022—2nd EUSO Stakeholder Forum* The 2nd European Soil Observatory (EUSO) stakeholder forum will be a 3-days event in October. The developments of the various working groups will be presented in this second Forum. Save the date for 24-26 October. Details will follow soon. The Commission wants to ensure that the general public interest across the EU is well reflected in the impact assessment and the proposal for a soil health law by collecting feedback, ideas, information and opinions including policy briefs, studies, data on the drivers and the extent of the problem, costs and impacts, policy objectives and options.
