IPROMO Summer School 2023 “Youth and the future of mountain forests” Pieve Tesino and Ormea, Italy 11 - 25 July 2023 Dear Mountain Partnership members and friends, We are pleased to share with you the call for applications for the sixteenth
IPROMO Summer School. This annual training programme on sustainable mountain development is jointly organized by the
Mountain Partnership Secretariat at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the University of Turin, Italy, and the University of Tuscia, Italy, with the high patronage of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The theme of this year’s IPROMO summer school will be
“Youth and the future of mountain forests”. It will discuss the sustainable management of mountain forests with a focus on the role of youth. The concept has been developed in cooperation with the
International Forestry Students’ Association. The course content will focus on three main topics: 1) understanding the sustainable management of mountain forests, 2) identifying specific policies
that can support sustainable mountain forest management, and 3) understanding how to better involve youth in the effort.
The course will run from 11 July to 25 July 2023, with two weeks of full immersion learning. It will be held in Pieve Tesino (northeast Italy) and Ormea (northwest
Italy). The course will be conducted in person, and the language of instruction is English. The summer school will include lectures, practical work and excursions. The provisional programme is attached; the instructors are being identified and will include
a mix of university professors, UN officers and colleagues from regional or international organizations dealing with sustainable mountain development. The final programme will be available in the coming week in the IPROMO webpage. About 30 professionals will be admitted to the course, and preference will be given to participants coming from countries and organizations that are members
of the Mountain Partnership. This course is geared toward technical officers, hence applicants from academia will not be given priority. Given the focus
of this year’s theme on youth, only participants under the age of 35 (born during or after 1988) are eligible to apply. Having an excellent knowledge of English; a university degree preferably in a technical area such as agriculture, forestry, biology, geology or geography; and relevant work experience are prerequisites.
Full COVID-19 vaccination is required. Those who are interested in participating can apply online and upload their curriculum vitae as a Word or PDF file
here.
The deadline to submit applications is
28 February 2023, and applicants can expect to receive a reply by mid-March 2023.
